Samsung announced a metal frame Android smartphone called the Galaxy Alpha earlier this month that looks very similar to the iPhone. Popular designer Martin Hajek, known for his iPhone concepts, today posted new 3D renders comparing the Galaxy Alpha with the iPhone 5s and the larger iPhone 6.
He writes:
I wanted to see how far Samsung went in ‘borrowing’ design elements from Apple in their latest flagship phone – see for yourself in the images below. The first set of images compares the Alpha with the iPhone 5s, the images below pit it against my concept model of the iPhone 6.
I think they managed to borrow enough from Apple but still keep it very Samsung-ish.
Here’s how the gold variant of the Galaxy Alpha compares to the gold iPhone 5s:
And here’s how Samsung’s metal design stacks up against the much rumored iPhone 6’s new, thinner design:
The Galaxy Alpha definitely looks similar to the iPhone 5s, especially with the chamfered edges. However, the Alpha looks quite different from the rumored iPhone 6 design, which forgoes chamfered edges in favor of round corners.
